POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is currently seeking an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Houston, Texas office. This is an in-office position, but flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
Responsibilities
The Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with our mission statement and culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals of the department, maintain our high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:
Required Education/Experience
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on
Candidates should enjoy living in the Houston area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistance
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
3+ months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis
Minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA)
Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design
Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
