Propulsion Systems Engineer

Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex materials (including energetics), structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems. Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems (electric, solid/liquid fuel rocket, air-breathing, thrusters) for application in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2: BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering 2 years of related work experience or a MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3: BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering 5 years of related work experience or 3 years with a MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skills related to statics, dynamics, fluids, thermodynamics, rocket propulsion, computer skills/programming (MATLAB, FORTRAN, Solid Modeling, Excel) are all desirable.
  • Leadership & teamwork capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups
  • Able to work in an autonomous work environment on complex projects
  • Experience working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
