Embedded Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions for advanced electronic products used in on-highway vehicle systems. This role requires strong expertise in model-based development, embedded programming, and vehicle communication protocols. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can ensure reliable, high-quality software performance in complex electronic environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, and support embedded software for electronic products used in on-highway vehicles.

Utilize MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Development System to create and validate software models.

Record, track, and manage software bugs through successful closure.

Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software issues in a timely manner.

Ensure all software and electronic components meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to gather, interpret, and implement system requirements.

Support system integration, debugging, and testing activities, including HIL/SIL environments when applicable.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience working with MATLAB/Simulink in a model-based development environment.

Strong knowledge of CAN, J1939, and other vehicle communication protocols.

Proficiency in embedded programming principles and software development processes.

Demonstrated experience with C/C++ in embedded systems.

Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with MBDS, Simulink/Stateflow, and related model-based development tools.

Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, schematics, and electronic hardware.

Background in debugging embedded systems using emulators, logic analyzers, or similar tools.

Experience with HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) or SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) testing environments.

Prior industry experience in on-highway vehicles or heavy-duty automotive applications.

Familiarity with continuous integration tools, software repositories, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Knowledge of additional communication protocols such as ISOBUS or LIN.

This is a Contract position based out of Grimes, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
