Substation Engineer I

The offices provide engineering and design support for electrical utility transmission systems ranging from 12kV to 765kV. The projects can be for new system construction or existing system augmentation or refurbishing.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and prepare basic one-line diagrams, project scopes, and cost estimates for substation projects with guidance of higher-level engineers
• Review substation construction drawings such as electrical arrangements, plan and section views, grounding, cable and conduit drawings, and other project documents and verify compliance with appropriate codes and standards
• Make recommendations for necessary changes to drawings and documents to comply with scope and standards
• Assist higher level engineers in conducting studies such as lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations
• Work with the following equipment: transformers, circuit breakers, line disconnects, protective relays systems (SEL, ABB, etc.), and SCADA systems
• Order equipment and material and create bills of material for substation construction with assistance of higher-level engineers
• Work on both green-field and brown-field (retrofit) Protection and Control Projects
• Set relays and conduct relay setting calculations utilizing ASPEN, 5010 (SEL), and GE Software
• Design settings in a Word Document then pass on to assigned designers
• Mark-up and review protection schematics and elementaries in Microstation V8i
• Utilize SE Port to review equipment and materials established by substation engineers for Protection Designers
• Travel to project sites for walk downs and gathering information to develop the correct requirements for the projects to scope and develop substations
• Provide input to routine construction documents related to scheduling for substation projects

This is a permanent position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $36.06/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
