This position provides senior level leadership and is responsible for the overall development and management of large scale and/or multiple complex capital and non-capital projects for and in occupied spaces OR development and management of cross-functional capital renewal projects for and in occupied spaces that require working with all department and/or county levels and groups specific to the project design and implementation to address specific business needs. Works under the guidance and general direction of the Project Coordinator (Principal Engineer) and/or Division Director of Design, Engineering and Construction.
Other duties include:
Responsible and authorized to lead design projects and resolve construction issues as primary representative of Fairfax County.
Establishes project objectives and performance standards.
Performs difficult professional engineering work in managing and participating in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, generator, life safety, photovoltaic (PV) solar, and EV equipment and systems (new, renovation and renewal).
Performs review and analysis of plans and specifications for electrical, generator, life safety, PV solar, and EV systems, and features and compliance with code requirements.
Serves as department subject matter expert and subject matter expert to multiple other county departments and agencies.
As a registered Professional Engineer, leverages a strong technical background, excellence in design, attention to detail and quality control to perform and review electrical engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings, specifications, schedules and budgets for commercial building electrical, generator and life safety systems and/or components.
As licensed Professional Electrical Engineer signs and seals own work product.
Ensures the timely completion of projects assigned consistent with quality standards of the Facilities Management Department (FMD) and industry standards, as well as ensuring projects are financially and operationally viable and completed in a cost-efficient manner.
