Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community care environments. Your primary focus will be on fostering independence and promoting dignity for those you serve.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide patient care and support in daily routines while ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Monitor clients health by taking vital signs and observing any changes in behavior or condition.
  • Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including medication administration as required.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Document client progress and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in related fields such as home health, hospice care, or long-term care is preferred.
  • Familiarity with first aid and CPR is highly desirable; certification may be required.
  • Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and the ability to recognize changes in clients' conditions.
  • Previous experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or memory care settings is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed while assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
  • Cooking skills for meal preparation that meets dietary needs are beneficial.
  • A background in social work or nursing can enhance your effectiveness in this role.
