Construction Engineering Associate (EA III)

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is seeking a Construction Engineering Associate (EA III) for the Field Operations Division within the District Five, Construction Area Two.

The position is responsible for administering numerous construction contracts to ensure that the work is performed per legal requirements and desired quality is achieved.

The supervisor for this position is Scott Koopmann, PCE II (Area Engineer) K0225014 / 05-02-00-803.

The employee will be given considerable latitude to complete the technical, administrative and supervisor duties, with instructions provided by various manuals and guidelines.

Assignments will normally be given orally, and work is reviewed for results accomplished rather than scrutinized for accomplishment methods.

The position involves providing effective leadership to the assigned work unit, including performance objectives, midyear performance feedback discussions, timely performance reviews, coaching and counseling, discipline, and providing employee development opportunities.

Additionally, the role includes providing engineering guidance and administration for the construction of highway and related construction projects, interpreting specifications, plans, and special provisions, conducting preconstruction conferences, and coordinating construction schedules for the timely completion of highway projects.

The position also involves supervising other engineering associates and engineering technicians in the administration of contract provisions for highway construction work and resolving conflicts between contractors and project personnel.
