The Child Support Specialist II will assist in providing services to individuals who receive or pay child support, assisting individuals with preparing legal documents/motions for child support related court filings, general caseload responsibilities, and participation in Case Managers Conferences at a Family Division of Vermont Superior. In this role, impartiality, equity, empathy, and procedural justice are key. Also, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks is important. Child support law is challenging and it requires adaptability, openness, and flexibility.
The position requires diverse experience in using multiple applications/programs such as Adobe, all Microsoft programs, and many others. It is essential that the right candidate be comfortable using technology and be an excellent communicator. Some travel may be required for Court events or appointments with customers. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Child Support Supervisor or Child Support Regional Manager.

Duties are performed in an assigned District Office, in the field and in Family Court. Incumbents must be able to function independently in a confrontational, even hostile environment. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. The nature of the position may involve work outside of regular duty hours. Appearances at case manager conferences may be challenging and difficult as the task requires developing a cooperative agreement with parties who may be hostile.
