Corrections Professional

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities include managing and directing the activities of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals responsible for medical, dental, and allied health services to the inmate population. Responsible for the oversight of daily clinic operations, emergency services, and management of inmates with chronic illnesses. Plans and coordinates purchases and/or contracts for supplies, equipment, specialty care or ancillary services and maintains par inventory levels. Assists the Health Services Administrator and Regional Health Services Administrator to implement the agency's re-entry initiatives including timely inmate skills assessment data entry at admission and evaluation of health status documented in an updated electronic exit summary at release. Assists with monitoring the provision of release medications and electronic transmission of health records to community healthcare providers rendering continued medical or mental health care when applicable. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Requirements include U.S. citizenship and meeting specific qualification requirements. Basic requirements include education in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields with coursework in health care administration, or specialized experience in the health care field. Applicants must also possess management ability to delegate authority, evaluate and oversee people and programs, recognize and adapt to changing priorities; and knowledge of the interrelationships and interdependencies among various medical and administrative services and programs.

Special conditions of employment include a maximum entry age of 36, a one-year probationary period for supervisory/managerial positions, subject to geographic relocation, and satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks. The Core Value Assessment (CVA) is an in-person assessment that must be completed within a 70 minute time period and a passing score of 68 must be obtained. Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
