Location: Gulf Coast Region
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $130,000 - $140,000 annually + commission
Contractor Work Model: Remote with 50-60% travel to client sites
Purpose of the Role
As an Area Sales Manager, you will play a critical role in driving growth within the Marine, Offshore, and Wind segments. This role is designed with long-term succession planning in mind. You will initially focus on managing the well-established Pacific Northwest business while gradually transitioning into the Gulf region-eventually taking full ownership of the Gulf territory.
Your mission is to increase revenue, expand market presence, and build strong relationships with end users by delivering exceptional product expertise and consultative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Growth
Achieve profitable sales growth within assigned territories.
Consistently close business and meet monthly/quarterly quotas.
Develop effective strategies for new business generation and prospecting.
Clearly communicate company's value proposition and competitive differentiation.
Territory Ownership
Manage and maintain the Pacific Northwest region's established customer base while building new opportunities.
Collaborate with and eventually succeed the current Gulf region ASM, taking full ownership of the Gulf territory once the transition occurs.
Travel 50-60% to customer sites across assigned regions; remainder of work performed remotely.
Customer Relationships & Service
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and end users.
Deliver timely, professional responses to customer inquiries.
Provide high-level product expertise and technical competency (industry-specific training will be provided).
Collaboration & Reporting
Partner with internal teams to communicate customer insights and influence product or strategic decisions.
Deliver effective presentations to customers, partners, and industry groups.
Participate in trade shows, regional meetings, and company events as needed.
Complete weekly activity reports, monthly expenses, and other reports as required.
Who We're Looking For
Required Background
Must reside in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama (Gulf Coast region)
Strong marine industry experience required (commercial marine, offshore, shipyards, etc.).
True hunter mentality - this role requires proactive prospecting and new business development.
Proven success selling to end users.
5-10 years of outside sales experience with a track record of exceeding quota.
Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize in a remote environment.
Willing and able to travel domestically 50-60%.
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
Experience supporting or transitioning into multiple territories.
Prior exposure to lighting or electrical products (not required; training provided).
