Engineer For F-22 Landing And Arresting Gear System Team

We're looking for a dedicated engineer to support the F-22 Landing and Arresting Gear System team. If you're passionate about aerospace systems, enjoy close collaboration with vendors and customers, and want hands-on experience with sustainment, failure analysis, and affordability initiatives, join our team and help keep the F-22 flying safely.

Coordination & Integration

Work directly with the landing-gear vendor (Collins) to align requirements, resolve technical issues, and integrate new hardware or software changes.

Serve as the primary technical liaison with the F-22 Program Office, ensuring clear communication of status, risks, and schedule impacts.

Sustainment & Issue Resolution

Evaluate component failures and performance trends across the fleet, recommending corrective actions to maintain mission-ready availability.

Participate in the root-cause analysis of field-level problems and develop repair or retrofit solutions.

Change Management

Lead or support Class I and Class II change processes, from initial proposal through documentation, testing, and implementation.

Coordinate with engineering, quality, and logistics teams to ensure changes meet safety and certification requirements.

Affordability Initiatives

Contribute to cost-saving studies and affordability reviews, identifying opportunities to reduce life-cycle expenses without compromising performance.

Analyze data on parts usage, maintenance labor, and supply-chain costs to support decision-making.

Exposure & Development

Gain extensive exposure to landing-gear operations, field failure resolution, supplier technical coordination, and design-change implementation.

Build expertise in aerospace engineering practices, certification standards, and program-office interaction.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

Microsoft Office Skills - of particular importance: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project.

Extensive technical expertise.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired Skills

Highly motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment learn continuously and the ability to identify multiple avenues to successfully reach team goals.

Candidate must work well with team members and technical lead as well as multiple organizations.

Experience with V5 CATIA.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction and exercise technical objectives and approaches.

Prior experience with two or more major milestone reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR)

Ability to support CONUS and OCONUS travel, as necessary

Ability to develop clear technical presentations for customers and suppliers.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
