ADC Engineer

At AWS, we're building the future of cloud computing, and we need detail-oriented engineers who can support our service operations while adhering to the highest standards of security and compliance.

You'll have the opportunity to help AWS build the platform that will set the standard for cloud computing. You will have to make prioritization decisions, iterate and innovate, and think through large-scale globally distributed systems problems. You will have to think about how to provide advanced functionality while maintaining a 100% availability guarantee. As a lead member of our growing team, you will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and interact with many other engineering teams across Amazon.

As an ADC Engineer, you'll be part of a team that ensures the reliability and security of our cloud infrastructure. Whether you're investigating operational issues, working on service builds, or supporting customer cases, you'll develop deep technical expertise while working in a structured environment that promotes learning and growth.

The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field OR 2-year STEM degree with 2+ years of technical troubleshooting experience in any field OR 4+ years of technical troubleshooting in any field.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of resource and design requirements for highly scalable systems
  • Experience with the Linux operating system environment
  • Ability to optimize code for memory and CPU utilization to support hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections per server
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of system performance and operational readiness monitoring
  • Understanding of functional programming concepts
  • Strong desire to build, deliver results, take ownership, and drive projects
  • Excellent written communication skills and verbal agility are strong assets
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity
