This role involves working with large coils of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel. Using a crane, these coils are loaded into a machine that cuts them into smaller coils or large sheets. The position starts with tasks related to packing, but it evolves into machine operation as skills are developed.
Operate machinery to cut large metal coils into smaller coils or sheets.
Use a forklift and overhead crane to transport metal coils.
Start with packing duties, placing metals on crates for loading.
Participate in cross-training for all machinery operations.
Ensure no lifting over 50 lbs, with heavier tasks handled by designated personnel.
Past experience in manufacturing.
Comfortable working in metal manufacturing environments with large metal coils.
Basic English knowledge; bilingual skills are a plus.
Experience in machine setup.
Experience working with metal coils.
Experience working in a Union environment.
This position offers competitive starting pay with scheduled increases and opportunities for bonuses. Employees receive a GAIN SHARE bonus every two weeks based on machine productivity, a quarterly attendance bonus, and a safety bonus. Joining a Union after 90 days provides additional stability and benefits.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL.
The pay range for this position is $23.50/hr.
