Ocean Freight Clerk

An Ocean Freight Clerk at UPS performs a variety of general office and administrative duties related to ocean freight shipping. This full-time role is a key part of the logistics team, ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently and accurately from start to finish.

What You'll Do:

  • Shipment Management: Handle and coordinate ocean shipments from booking to delivery, ensuring all customer and company policies are met. Invoicing shipments (internal and external) invoice control, accrual management, profit and loss responsibility on shipment / file level.
  • Documentation: Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including customs clearance, custom house brokerage.
  • External Customer Interaction: Handle customer queries professionally and speedily. Internal customer interaction: work with ocean freight product, pricing, business developments, sales and overseas operations
  • Data Entry and Auditing: Accurately enter and manipulate data related to shipments, data entry and data management in freight forwarding system(s).
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve shipping discrepancies and address any issues that arise during the shipping process.

What You'll Need:

  • Polite, professional, and confident communication skills to interact with customers, carriers, and colleagues.
  • A flexible and friendly attitude with a customer-centric approach.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, time-specific, and targeted environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Self-motivation, a well-organized approach, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Experience in customer service and a similar environment is a plus.
  • Experience working with deadlines and a strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility in shift hours to cover holidays, as this is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
