The department's administrative support function currently consists of 25 employees, of which 4 are active in the HR department. Within the HR function, we work closely together, can jump in for each other during busy periods, and as a new employee, you will work alongside other colleagues and benefit from their experience. As an HR generalist at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, you will be part of the university's HR function and collaborate with the HR department at the university administration. Various development projects are ongoing within the HR function where you have the opportunity to participate. You will also take part in a wide range of HR-related training.
An important part of the work as an HR generalist is to continuously provide consultative and service-oriented support to both the department's leadership, department heads, and employees in matters related to the entire HR area. You will handle, investigate, and drive matters within the HR area independently and together with colleagues in the HR group. This includes following up on appointments, working on recruitment, and ensuring that labor laws and agreements are followed. Additionally, monitoring and applying the regulations governing employment conditions within the public sector, as well as contacts with other relevant authorities, are part of the job responsibilities. As an HR generalist, you are expected to contribute to the development of new work routines and a good working environment, both within the own work group and the department at large. General administrative tasks are also part of the job responsibilities.
The job involves close cooperation with the department's department heads, employees, and other colleagues within the administrative support group, while you are also expected to drive matters independently. The job responsibilities require an outward-looking and proactive approach and the ability to communicate well in both Swedish and English since many of the employees are non-Swedish speakers.
The HR function is part of the department's support activities, which provide service and support to the core activities in the areas of finance, HR, IT, communication, and educational administration.
