Pharmacy Student Summer Role
Are you currently pursuing a pharmacy degree and looking for a summer role that lets you put your knowledge into action? Do you enjoy helping others and providing exceptional customer service? If so, this could be a perfect fit for you!
This temporary summer position (May–August) is designed specifically for pharmacy students enrolled in an accredited program. You'll gain hands-on experience supporting medication therapy management and interacting with members, providers, and pharmacies—all while working remotely during daylight hours, with optional weekend opportunities. Pay rate: $19.79/hour.
As a Pharmacy Student with UPMC Health Plan, you'll play an important role in ensuring our members receive safe, effective, and timely pharmaceutical care. You'll be part of a supportive team that values quality, accuracy, and compassionate communication.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll learn, grow, and contribute by:
- Supporting members and providers through inbound and outbound calls, helping address medication-related questions and concerns.
- Ensuring high-quality interactions that meet call center performance goals.
- Partnering with pharmacists by preparing cases and completing pre-work for comprehensive medication reviews.
- Maintaining accurate patient information and updating pharmacy systems as needed.
- Handling confidential information responsibly and following all HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
- Resolving concerns on the first call whenever possible to create positive, seamless experiences.
- Engaging in medication therapy management activities through interactions with members, pharmacies, and providers.
- Participating in quality improvement efforts to enhance both clinical care and operational processes.
- Supporting training efforts for new pharmacy personnel or students.
- Documenting all interactions and interventions accurately and completely.
