Laboratory Support Technician salary range: $18.04/hr. – 26.71/hr. Medical Lab Technician salary range: $21.48/hr – $31.19/hr – eligible for up to $10,000 sign on bonus! Medical Laboratory Scientist salary range: $26.97 – $35.51/hr – eligible for up to $15,000 sign on bonus! Title and salary will be determined based on education and experience, and the salary shown reflects the Lab Support Tech role.

In this role, you will engage in the accurate performance of lab testing to diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients that leads to our quality patient care outcomes with opportunity to:

  • Process specimens for analysis according to established protocols.
  • Ensure testing accuracy and precision by meeting established protocols and timelines.
  • Identify critical or abnormal results and take immediate action according to predetermined guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to instrumentation, methodology, specimens, or supplies.
  • Participate in test development and evaluate new methodologies, equipment, and techniques.
  • Perform and document quality control measures to ensure consistent standards.
  • Report any incidents or issues to supervisors or pathologists promptly.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing minor repairs when necessary.
  • Enter patient demographic and test data into the information management system.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new employees and students, promoting a collaborative work environment.

Laboratory Support Technician

  • Must meet one of the following criteria:

    • High School diploma or equivalent, AND at least 2 years experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) required in a clinical lab.
    • Associate degree (with biology and chemistry courses) AND at least 1 year of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab.
    • Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification AND 1 year of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab.
    • Successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course.
    • B.S. degree from an accredited institution with a major in a biological or clinical laboratory science.
    • Currently enrolled in a MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent training program, with 3 years college credits required.

Medical Lab Technician

  • Must meet one of the following criteria:

    • Associate's degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with 6 months of clinical laboratory experience.
    • Equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA '88 for individuals performing high complexity testing.

Medical Laboratory Scientist

  • Must meet one of the following criteria:

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an accredited Medical Lab Scientist program.
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP or equivalent categorical or MLT certification.
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ASCP Certifications Preferred: Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA), or equivalent ASCP Certification.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
