Research Assistant

We are hiring a research assistant to assist in cleaning large datasets containing personnel records of correctional officers employed in U.S. state prisons. The ideal candidate has experience cleaning and standardizing messy data in R, writing reproducible code, and working on a team.

If interested, please send a CV/resume and 300-500 word description of past experiences working with R. (This could include a discussion about a project for class or something you worked on before coming to UVA. Be specific – tell us about what you did and why, how you approached and solved difficult coding issues, and what you would maybe have done differently if you did it again.) Knowledge or interest in the carceral system or bureaucracy is a plus but not necessary.

Pay commensurate with experience and degree ($17-$25/ hour). Minimum 10 hours/week commitment.
