Research Support Officer

We are seeking a Research Support Officer to join the FMH Central Sydney (Patyegarang) Team. In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative and operational support to enable research activity across the Faculty and contribute to the development of its research profile. You will support pre-award and post-award research grant activity, assist with the implementation of strategic research initiatives, and provide advice and support to researchers and key stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the identification and administration of research funding opportunities aligned with the Faculty’s strategic research priorities
  • Assisting with the preparation, review, and submission of competitive research grant applications, including coordinating internal approval processes
  • Providing administrative and operational support to researchers, academics, and research management staff across the Faculty
  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information about researchers, research groups, and Faculty research strengths is maintained and promoted
  • Providing advice on post-award research project activities, including variations and reporting requirements
  • Supporting the strategic direction and continuous improvement of research administration processes within the Faculty

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent administrative skills, with effective and tactful written and verbal communication, strong problem-solving ability, and sound judgement
  • The ability to use initiative and manage competing priorities, particularly during peak grant submission periods
  • Strong time and workload management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver outcomes
  • High-level computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), database maintenance, and large, enterprise-level information systems
  • The ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with academic and professional staff in a complex organisational environment

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
