Part-Time Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused)

The School of Social Science at The University of Queensland is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused) to contribute to its undergraduate teaching program from 3 November 2025 to 20 February 2026.

In this role, you will deliver ANTH1030: Anthropology of Current World Issues during the Summer Semester.

The successful applicant will have an emerging profile of teaching practice through innovative teaching activities that advance student learning and be willing to engage, as a UQ citizen, in the collegial life of the School.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate courses, develop and deliver lectures and tutorials, assess and mark students, maintain quality of courses, mentor students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.

About You

Applicants should possess a PhD or near completion of a PhD in Anthropology. Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in a relevant field or sub-field of Anthropology.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effective courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active learning and flexible approaches to teaching, including teaching online.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.
  • Capacity to use a range of online systems and platforms in teaching and learning (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles etc.).

Due to the short-term nature of this role and the requirement for on-site teaching, candidates will need to be available to work in Brisbane during the contract period.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia etc.
