UNSW's Marketing & Digital Experience team plays a key role in driving student recruitment and strengthening the university's global brand. The Sales Lead is central to this mission, leading the development and execution of high-impact engagement and conversion strategies across domestic undergraduate, postgraduate, lifelong learner, and international markets. This role integrates Inside Sales and Field Sales approaches to deliver a seamless, personalised experience for prospective students.

The Sales Lead manages the full student engagement journey through sophisticated use of the university's CRM systems, ensuring a data-informed and consistent experience across all channels and cohorts. This role leads the Future Student Enquiries Team, driving timely and effective responses while evolving the function into a high-performing Inside Sales team. The role also oversees the Future Student Events portfolio, coordinating recruitment events locally and internationally to boost lead generation and conversion.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Future Student Recruitment, the Sales Lead contributes to the development of overall student recruitment strategies, ensuring data-led sales practices are embedded across all initiatives. The role includes three direct reports.

Specific Accountabilities For This Role Include:

  • Lead the design and execution of sophisticated sales strategies that drive lead engagement, funnel progression and conversion across all domestic and international key student recruitment audiences.
  • Manage and optimise the breadth of Inside Sales and Field Sales activities across the Marketing & Digital Experience portfolio, ensuring a highly personalised and responsive experience for prospective learners.
  • Leverage the University's CRM and Lead Management systems to manage lead pipelines, optimise engagement, and deliver targeted communications across a range of touchpoints and channels.
  • Provide leadership to the Future Student Enquiries Team, ensuring high-quality, timely, and student centred responses across all channels.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the Future Student Events portfolio, including large-scale domestic and international recruitment events, ensuring data-informed and lead-optimised approaches.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven experience in sales leadership, preferably across the higher education sector, with a strong understanding of Inside Sales and Field Sales methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, MS Dynamics, HubSpot) to define and execute data-driven engagement strategies.
  • Experience leading enquiry management teams and/or contact centres with a focus on customer service excellence and continued improvement.
  • Experience designing and implementing lead generation strategies for promotional or recruitment events, both domestically and globally.
  • Experience in sales enablement or sales operations functions including structuring training and enablement programs is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, consultation, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, persuasion, and audience relevance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
