Senior Developer / Tech Lead

We're seeking an experienced Senior Developer / Tech Lead to lead a squad that will rapidly build proof of concepts, pilots and MVPs using GenAI, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Python, JavaScript, Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot / AI Studio. You'll be more than a technical expert—you'll be a hands-on problem solver, change driver, and mentor of small squads of developers, leading the way in delivering secure, scalable, and innovative digital solutions.

What you'll do:

• Lead squads working in sprints to rapidly develop web apps for stakeholders and use cases across the university.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand needs, refine scope and manage expectations.
• Oversee code quality, review pull requests, and enforce development standards.
• Drive the development of CI/CD and automation to boost efficiency and productivity.
• Embed cyber security best practice, from architecture to operations.
• Ensure support, maintenance and improvements are delivered for the apps built.
• Mentor and guide a talented DevOps team, building capability and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

• Extensive experience in senior software development or technical leadership roles that oversee a team of developers from junior to senior.
• Detailed hands-on experience integrating GenAI technologies (e.g. ChatGPT, Amazon Bedrock/Q, Azure AI Studio and other LLMs or tools) with web apps.
• Practical experience in implementing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for agentic AI solutions.
• Demonstrated proficiency in rapid development of web apps using modern libraries/frameworks in Python (e.g. Flask) and/or JavaScript (e.g. NodeJS, React).
• Proven experience delivering apps with low-code tools like Microsoft Power Platform.
• Extensive expertise in best practice architecture and deployment of web apps across AWS and Azure Cloud Services.
• Passion and experience in uplifting code quality, development standards and CI/CD using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Strong communicator, steady under pressure, and focused on rapid outcomes.

This full-time position is an initial fixed term until October 2027 at a HEW 8 Higher Education Level located in the Digital Technology Solutions department at Callaghan Campus.
