The University of Nevada, Reno is excited to announce the launch of a new industrial engineering program to be initially housed under its Chemical and Materials Science Engineering Department. This initiative marks a significant expansion of the university's engineering offerings, designed to meet the growing demand for industrial engineers in various sectors in the state of Nevada.
The new industrial engineering program at UNR is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to optimize complex systems, processes, and organizations. By integrating principles of engineering, mathematics, and management, the program aims to produce graduates who can improve efficiency, productivity, and quality in manufacturing, lithium supply chain, logistics, healthcare, and other growing industries in the state of Nevada and nationwide.
This is a great opportunity for new faculty to have the chance of shaping the program from the ground up, contributing to curriculum development, research initiatives, and the creation of a vibrant academic community around industrial engineering.
The Chemical and Materials Engineering department invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month, Assistant or Associate Professor position in Industrial Engineering in all areas of research and teaching in industrial engineering. Example areas of interest for this position include optimization, supply chain theory and modeling, logistics, critical materials supply chain, process modeling, and quality control preferred.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees
The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits but, in order to be eligible, children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.

In the past decade, substantial growth in both student enrollment and tenure-track faculty positions has led the College of Engineering to unprecedented success and new levels of performance that contributed significantly to the University's elevation to Carnegie R1 status. Enrollment has doubled since 2008, and in the most recent fiscal year, new research funding surpassed $19 million. In 2020, the 100,000-square-foot William N. Pennington Engineering Building opened. With its 150 graduate workstations, 40 laboratories and ISO Class 5 (Class 100) cleanroom, our students and faculty will build on the College's robust tradition of excellence in pursuit of high-impact research that improves lives in our state, across our nation and around the world.
