Instruct and advise staff on changes in policies, procedures, or working standards. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures that are consistent with University and MU Health Care policies and procedures. Ensure that all departmental certifications, licenses, and accreditations are maintained continually. Represent and participate in appropriate MU Health Care committee activities. Prepare annual budget and monitor revenue and expenditures during the year. Develop, implement, and monitor workload standards and productivity reports. Monitor departmental operations and objectives to ensure the most effective services are provided. Monitor billing functions and departmental revenue status. Develop, delegate, and monitor departmental goals, objectives, and programs, and ensure timely completion. Develop and implement quality assurance programs for the department. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the delivery of quality services. Confer with physicians and other department managers to resolve operational problems and promote communications and guest relations with patients and the public. Manage the departmental Guest Relations program. Coordinate equipment purchases and maintenance. Market clinical services both inside and outside MU Health Care. Coordinate the activities of Surgery Services within MU Health Care. Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care. Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree for staff hired after 9/28/25.
  • Five (5) years of nursing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Two (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years' experience working in a surgical services environment.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
