The role of the Senior Hardware and Software IT Asset Specialist is to actively manage all hardware and software assets within the organization. This includes planning, monitoring, and recording software licenses and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts. The individual will assist in forming procurement strategies to optimize technology spending across the organization. The Senior Hardware and Software IT Asset Specialist will also develop and make recommendations to improve procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles. The Senior Hardware and Software IT Asset Specialist will report directly to the Senior Manager/Director of IT Asset Management.
Duties and responsibilities include consolidating software records, purchasing, receiving, tracking, and documenting new and existing software license agreements, building relationships with vendor POCs, working with Sr Asset Manager on tracking and documenting project-related software orders, training new team members regarding our software module within ServiceNow platform, performing risk analysis, ensuring license compliance, utilizing reporting and documentation tactics, purchasing and disposing of software tools, working with Deskside Support to ensure software is performing as needed, staying within the organization's policies, software license compliance, and other software-related activities, conducting software license audits, developing the software asset management policy, evaluating software submissions, negotiating volume contracts, working with corporate security and risk practices, improving productivity and workflows, limiting the cost of overhead by streamlining IT processes, establishing and maintaining processes associated with long-term SAM goals, coordinating the purchase of new software, negotiating software license agreements, and conducting software harvesting upon the departure of staff or disposal of assets.

Education and experience requirements include 3+ years of IT Asset Management experience, strong knowledge of asset management processes and procedures, excellent inventory and cost-management skills, experience with various licensing models and understanding of hardware contracts, proven conceptual, problem-solving, and analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow established processes. Preferred experience includes a Bachelor's Degree and certifications such as CHAMP, CSAM, CITAM, or ITIL v3 Foundations or higher.
