The Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD) is unrivalled in scale in the UK as a hub of engineering and material science expertise, as it combines Manchester's heritage as the birthplace of the industrial revolution with new purpose-built facilities that will deliver a step-change in our approach to solving some of the world's most pressing issues. On any given day, 5000 students may use the building for taught activities, accessing the student support hub, along with extensive use of computer clusters and informal learning spaces. As well as this, 2,000 staff call MECD their home and use the workspace and research areas to collaborate with colleagues.
As an integral part of the Service Delivery Team, the Building Services Assistant (BSA) will primarily undertake manual tasks and provide excellent customer service to all building users.
You are required to understand the working procedures in relation to running events on campus, configuring working spaces and to ensure that MECD operates effectively and efficiently.
You will be committed to promoting the university's policies and procedures to support and promote equality & diversity, comply with health and safety requirements. This includes undertaking mandatory training and having an awareness of personal responsibilities to maintain a safe working environment.
General Duties:
Colleagues will be required to work on a rota basis. The timing and frequency of support may vary dependent on agreed opening hours and resource demands for the service, however core hours of 13:00-20:30, Monday - Friday will be required.
During each shift, members of the Service Delivery Admin Team (SDAT) will request that the BSA carry out a potentially wide remit of tasks, including, but not limited to:
