Compliance Coordinator (Quality Coordinator)

Iowa Health Care department of Patient Financial Services is seeking a Compliance Coordinator (QA Coordinator) whose main responsibilities will be to review and assess the work of PFS and Mission employees on a monthly basis against the expectations of PFS/Mission leadership. You will provide direct support, consultation, guidance and training to users and identify technical solutions for Quality Assessment training for PFS/Mission employees. In this role, you will support monthly quality and productivity assessments, make individual suggestions, provide education, implementation of new processes and project management in an effort to maximize user and organizational effectiveness. You will also be sought out should any special projects arise.

This position is primarily a combination of remote and onsite (hybrid) work locations. Remote work must be performed at an offsite location within the State of Iowa. Training will be held ONSITE at the HSSB building at a length determined by the supervisor. Remote eligibility will be evaluated upon a satisfactory job training opportunity. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality assurance (QA) audits for Patient Financial Services (PFS)/Mission using PFS/Mission polices, regulations, and expectations as a guide on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Complete audits on multidisciplinary team and manage audit results through QA Access Database.
  • Identify trends through audit and conduct education for affected teams.
  • Communicate openly with PFS/Mission reps and leadership to develop productive working relationships
  • Assist in the identification of system and process improvements to enhance training methods, materials and data integrity.
  • Conduct training needs analysis; evaluate progress of employees to determine effectiveness and impact of training methods, materials and programs.
  • May provide one-on-one and/or group training for new PFS/Mission employees; retrain current employees when necessary.
  • Evaluate the instructional effectiveness of the strategies and educational approaches used.
  • Maintain strong, effective working relationships with directors, managers, coordinators, and staff
  • Treat all information received as confidential.
  • Identify and recommend educational remediation for basic issues.
  • Analyze quality assurance audit data for trends and report.
  • Use data to assist departments in making quality and process changes through facilitation of process improvement.
  • Develop reports and provide basic and intermediate analysis of activities against quality measures.
  • Provide information/data to assist in the development of training and educational improvements.
  • Identify and recommend education, best practices, and issues.
  • Respond to basic inquiries where interpretation may be required.
  • Prepare and deliver basic content that enhances knowledge of and adherence to internal and external standards and regulations.
  • Support other compliance staff as directed.
  • Provide information about policies to inquiries which may include recommending policy development and implementation.

Location: Hospital Support Services Building (HSSB) in Coralville, Iowa

Equipment:

  • Onsite – The department will provide a workstation which contains 3 (three) monitors, laptop/power cord, docking station/power cord, keyboard, mouse, headset, and desk supplies can be found in the supply closet.
  • Hybrid – while working onsite, the department will provide a workstation which contains 3 (three) monitors, a laptop/power cord, docking station/power cord, keyboard, mouse, headset, and desk supplies. When working offsite, the employee will take their laptop/power cord to carry back and forth, a second docking station/power cord to keep offsite. Prior to working offsite, the employee, at their own expense, will need to supply 2 (two) monitors, a keyboard, a mouse, and provide a screen shot of the domicile internet speed (minimum 30mb download and 10mb upload) and a picture of the office setup.
  • Remote - when working offsite, the department will provide the employee a laptop/power cord, docking station/power cord, headset. Prior to working offsite, the employee, at their own expense, will need to supply 2 (two) monitors, a keyboard, a mouse, and provide a screen shot of the domicile internet speed (minimum 30mb download and 10mb upload) and a picture of the office setup.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience with health care insurance billing.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years Revenue Cycle experience.
  • Familiarity with all insurance payors.
  • Experience using EPIC.
  • Knowledge with computer software applications, (i.e. Microsoft Office programs) and the ability to learn and apply new software systems knowledge quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for operational improvement and implementing effective changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in ambiguous and complex situations with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated customer-focused and team-focused actions to meet or exceed needs and expectations; take responsibility for customer complaints when an issue may lie elsewhere.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to share appropriate information and feedback in a professional, respectful and sensitive manner with all levels of personnel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months registration or follow-up experience.
  • Experience (1 year or more) creating, updating and documenting job procedures and processes.
  • Experience providing focused training in large and small group settings.
  • Experience and knowledge of Patient Financial Services' and/or Mission revenue cycle functions, systems, processes, and policies.
