The Administrative Assistant I will be working within our Division of Orthopaedics Rapid Access Clinic administrative team. The successful candidate will utilize knowledge of general and medical terminology and exercises judgment or decision-making to provide secretarial and clerical services, in support of professional/medical personnel, including: referral management and data entry, providing word processing/typing services for assigned personnel; performing reception responsibilities; maintaining written and/or electronic calendar/schedules; administering and monitoring billing procedures and budgeting records; providing support with small and/or informal meetings/events; maintaining and modifying confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods, systems, and/or formats; providing functional supervision or orientation to new clerical staff; ensuring the efficient operation of the office; performing other related clerical activities; performing cross-functional responsibilities, as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Duties include:

  • Utilizes knowledge of medical terminology and exercises judgment or decision-making to provide secretarial and clerical services, in support of professional/medical personnel
  • Provides word processing/typing services for assigned personnel
  • Central referral management; referral entry and scheduling of multiple clinics
  • Performs reception responsibilities
  • Maintains written and/or electronic calendar/schedules
  • Administers and monitoring billing procedures and budgeting records
  • Provides support with small and/or informal meetings/events
  • Maintains and modifying confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods, systems, and/or formats
  • Assist in onboarding and training for new administrative staff (when appropriate)
  • Provides functional supervision to lower classified clerical position(s)
  • Ensures the efficient operation of the office
