Organization's Summary Statement: The Director of Software Engineering at the University of Maryland's Applied Research Lab for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) will play a pivotal role in advancing the lab's research capabilities by providing robust software platforms for researchers to use for testing and evaluation. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining IT infrastructure standards to be implemented by the ARLIS systems engineering team. The role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in enterprise systems engineering, cybersecurity, and IT operations. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure systems that support the critical mission of ARLIS. In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will be a strategic planner capable of aligning IT infrastructure with research objectives and operational priorities. Physical Demands: Sedentary work performed in a normal office environment; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to attend meetings both on and off campus. Spending long hours in front of a computer screen. Must be able to be in the office 5 days a week, adjusted core hours and occasional work from home considered on case by case basis.
