Linen Service Aide

The Linen Service Aide, (Laundry Worker) is responsible for the operations of linen distribution and collections. Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling the production of hospital linens, linen distribution, soiled linen collection, sort/separating, washing, and processing of all linens
• Perform inspections of linen prior to distribution to ensure cleanliness and high-quality service that supports the mission and values of UMC
• Provide superior customer service to patients and hospital staff

Skills and Abilities:

• Maintain accurate linen count
• Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:

Works primarily independent of other Aides

Physical Capabilities:

• Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight.
• Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.

Environmental/Working Conditions:

This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/blood borne pathogens is high risk.
