The Environmental Service Worker focuses on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses. Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services.
Job Specific Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:
1 year housekeeping, linen, or other environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting. Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and operating equipment after successful completion of 90 day training.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper handling and disposing of medical infectious waste and soiled linen. Ability to properly clean and disinfect areas of blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:
This position will have interaction with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff.
Physical Capabilities:
Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is highly likely.
