Shopper Marketing Manager

Commerce Marketing is a growth capability for the retail industry at large and we are eager to find the ideal candidate to join us. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead the development and execution of shopper marketing strategies and plans for Tyson's portfolio of brands that help achieve Grocery team objectives and our brand objectives.

Specific Duties include:

  • Understanding Grocery Channel strategies, analyzing consumer insights and trends to identify key opportunities then develop and execute strategic and tactical annual plans for our grocery retail partners.
  • Conduct annual planning workshops with the Tyson Brand Teams and Tyson Sales Teams.
  • Develop programs that will deliver a strong return on investment vs. prior periods; analyze past programs.
  • Manage and maintain annual budgets.
  • Secure alignment to and approval of plans among the key constituents including: Tyson Marketing Analytics, Tyson Sales Teams, Tyson Brand Teams and Retailer Marketing and Merchandising Teams.
  • Engaging Tyson's Shopper Insights Team to provide insights-based rationale for plans, whenever possible.
  • Conducting Strategic Business Analyses and identifying Key Business Drivers for program performance recaps.
  • Develop and execute launch plans for Tyson innovation brands.
  • Manage the Grocery Shopper Marketing Team.
  • Provide weekly commentary, recommendations, and optimizations that correlate with the weekly Marketing Analytics reporting.
  • Effectively manage relationships with internal cross-functional teams, agency partners and others to execute programs.
  • Managing Team Travel Expense budget
  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful candidate will:

  • Have an in depth understanding of Grocery Retailers and Retailer Media Networks.
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically, lead and work as part of a team.
  • Have a strong analytical skill set for program evaluation and planning.
  • Have a proven track record of managing projects with quality, on-time and delivered at or below budget.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform at a high capacity to deliver against a significant volume of work and quick turn-around times on unanticipated customer-generated requests.

Requirements:

Education: BS in marketing or another business-related field. MBA preferred.

Experience: 7+ years of experience in marketing, sales, insights, and/or agency in Food or other Consumer Packaged Goods industry. Successful candidate will have experience working with Grocery retailers, experience working with and leading advertising agencies and some experience in marketing brands in a retail environment. Food or CPG experience a plus. Past Shopper Marketing experience strongly preferred.

Computer Skills: Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis focused on building Excel spreadsheets as analysis tools. Proficient systems knowledge and experience with syndicated data (Nielsen/ Mintel /Retail Link preferred).

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong public speaking skills for presentations to senior management, peers, and customers is required.

Special Skills: Leading Teams, strong project management, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills; strategic skill set based on a combination of fact-based shopper data and qualitative data to create customer visions for sustained business growth; leadership by influence, not by role authority; ability to comfortably sell ideas to others who ultimately will make the business decisions (Buyer, Sales Leader, Brand Manager, Sales Planning Team); work cross-functionally with a multitude of Brand Teams and Business Units, who each have different processes and management styles; ability to lead agency based on project management from creative concept to execution; write agency assignment briefs, creative briefs, and be an advocate for the customer.

Supervisory: This position will manage a Team of up to 3 individuals along with a dedicated agency team and must be able to motivate, delegate, manage and empower the team. Ideal candidate will need to develop and inspire the Team by building relationships that guide and or reinforce the performance of others; as well as develops self and others to improve performance in current role and to prepare for future roles, while seeking and providing feedback and coaching to enhance performance.

Travel: 5-8 domestic trips annually.

Location: This role will be based onsite at our World Headquarters in Springdale, AR.
