Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team at the Seguin Service Center. This role is essential in diagnosing issues, adjusting, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintenance and repairs of forklifts
- Servicing and repairs of semi-trucks
- Ensuring operational efficiency of pallet jacks
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic motors and hoses
- Repairs and maintenance of augers
- Repairing and mounting new tires
- Washing vehicles as needed
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnose issues, adjust, repair, and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Comply with Department of Transportation rules and regulations
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson's policies and procedures
Communication and documentation:
- Communicate and interface with management and other personnel
- Capable of reading and following instructions as well as technical manuals
Skill development:
- Learn skills in welding, hydraulics, power transmissions, and machine tool practices
Compliance:
- Knowledge of DOT requirements relating to equipment maintenance
Job requirements:
- Must have Diesel Mechanic experience
- Must have a minimum of 6 months of industrial maintenance experience
- Must have 90 days since the last term date
- Not eligible for hire if terminated 3x or more
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently
Environmental tolerance:
- Work performed in a noisy environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees
Additional skills:
- CDL is a plus, but not required
