AI Development Lead

Salary: USD $4,500 – $6,000 / month + PTO Contract: Independent Contractor Agreement Working Hours: 9am – 5pm EST Location: Canada (Remote) About the Company Our client is a growing Canadian startup that creates innovative tools to simplify and consolidate business operations. Responsibilities

• Design, fine-tune, and deploy AI models and intelligent agent-based products.
• Create and integrate AI-powered workflows that deliver measurable results for clients.
• Establish benchmarking and testing frameworks, ensuring continuous model improvement.
• Define the engineering vision and roadmap, aligning technical direction with business goals.
• Lead and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Work closely with product, data, and leadership teams to align engineering outcomes with strategy.
• Stay at the forefront of AI/ML and NLP research, integrating emerging technologies when appropriate.
• Ensure privacy, responsible AI use, and enterprise security standards are met.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing, training, and deploying AI/ML models (end-to-end lifecycle).
• Strong expertise in NLP, conversational AI, and agent-based architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Familiarity with cloud deployment and scalable systems.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
• Excellent English communication skills (C1 level or higher; accent is not an issue).

Compensation & Benefits
