The GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Controls) Test Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of tests for the GNC Team, including GNC ADCS (Attitude Determination and Control System) software, module-level and system integration testing. This engineer will design and develop test platforms, lead test campaigns, and write test procedures and reports to verify and validate performance of both hardware components and ADCS software. This role requires collaboration in cross-functional teams to develop the necessary testbeds and to ensure that GNC deliverables meet mission and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a testing framework for GNC hardware and software in HITL (Hardware In The Loop) and SITL (Software In The Loop) environments, including maintaining a CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment) pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain testing frameworks for GNC sensors/actuators such as sun sensors and reaction wheels at both the vehicle level, such as polarity testing, and module level, such as acceptance testing.
  • Work with other technical groups such as systems engineering and ground software engineering to develop the necessary testing infrastructure and to ensure that GNC deliverables meet mission testing requirements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the GNC hardware/software architecture and how it integrates into the greater spacecraft system. This deep understanding should extend to performing root cause analysis of software and hardware failures.
  • Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on GNC requirements, needs, and specifications. Define test objectives, scope, and criteria.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports. Ensure all testing activities are documented and traceable.
  • Review sub-contractor sensor/actuator test artifacts for compliance and requirements needs.
