About the Role
We're hiring a Vice President of Engineering / Toronto Site Lead to launch and scale our new Toronto office. You'll be the most senior technical leader on-site, with direct leadership over our Infrastructure and Data Engineering teams. You'll also play a critical role in shaping the office culture, hiring world-class talent, and establishing Tubi and Tubi Media Group's long-term presence in Toronto.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who is passionate about modern AI-driven development, large-scale systems, building high-performing teams and culture from the ground up. You will play a significant role in shaping the future of Tubi Media Group which consists of streaming and advertising. As the first engineering executive on-site, you'll have founder-like responsibilities over the growth and success of Tubi's Toronto office, with support from experienced leaders across Tubi Media Group.
What You'll Do
- Technical Hands-On Leadership: Lead Tubi's Infrastructure and Data Engineering teams in building scalable, resilient systems that power a streaming platform serving over 100 million users globally.
- Site Leadership: Act as the executive sponsor of the Toronto office—responsible for growth, talent, culture, technical excellence, and alignment with global engineering and business functions.
- Talent and Team Building: Hire, mentor, and develop engineering leaders and ICs. Collaborate with recruiting to establish Toronto as a magnet for top-tier technical talent. You'll be responsible for raising the performance bar, recognizing exceptional talent, and helping them grow.
- AI-Enabled Engineering: Champion the adoption of modern AI-native development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code), and embed AI workflows to boost productivity and code quality across teams.
- Operational Excellence: Establish engineering best practices, rapid experimentation, and maintain high code quality and reliability.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Work closely with the business across Tubi and AdRise in the US and Canada to align priorities and execute our product vision and Toronto's hiring plan.
Your Background
- 12+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years at the senior eng leadership level.
- Be able to do the job of most individual contributors on your team if the need arises. We are looking for hands-on leaders.
- Proven success scaling high-performance infrastructure and/or data systems at tech-forward companies. Hands-on familiarity with AWS, K8s, and Databricks.
- Proven track record and passion for moving fast and building successful products from scratch.
- Passion for building, mentoring, and leading engineering teams. You will be representing Tubi Media Group in Toronto and will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and helping set the culture of the office.
- Strong understanding of modern AI-assisted developer tools and how to leverage them at scale.
- Innate curiosity and continuous learning mindset—you stay on top of emerging technologies and love exploring new ways to improve systems and teams.
