Marketing Technology Leader

Lead and direct the strategic vision, engineering execution, and operational excellence of Truist's Marketing Technology domain, encompassing the Adobe suite (AEM, AEP, AJO, CJA), Messaging, and Marketing Data Engineering. This role oversees multiple agile scrum teams across several geographic locations. The leader partners closely with Marketing Product Management and Marketing Delivery to build enabling capabilities that support go-to-market campaign execution. The role also collaborates extensively across enterprise data teams and line of business (LOB) technology teams to ensure alignment, integration, and innovation. This role includes oversight of Truist.com, a high-visibility public-facing website supporting millions of impressions, emphasizing its strategic impact and importance in client engagement and brand representation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Set and execute the strategic direction for Marketing Technology in alignment with enterprise business and technology goals. Provide technology thought leadership on the evolution of marketing platforms and data, content supply chains, campaign enablement, consumer engagement, and privacy capabilities.
  • Technology Delivery & Execution: Oversee the design, engineering, implementation, and support of scalable, secure, and innovative marketing technology solutions. Accountability for end-to-end marketing capabilities and underlying data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing Product Management and Marketing Delivery to ensure technology enables campaign execution and customer engagement strategies. Collaborate with enterprise data teams and LOB technology leaders to ensure seamless data integration and governance.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a high-performing engineering organization, including coaching senior managers and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Manage resource planning, performance management, and career development across a globally distributed team.
  • Risk & Compliance: Own the first line of defense for risk management within the Marketing Tech domain. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, partnering with audit and risk teams as needed.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in delivery effectiveness, software quality, and operational efficiency. Monitor and manage budgets, third-party contracts, supplier relationships, and technology investments to maximize ROI.

  • Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, which could include any combination of: Ten years' experience managing software engineers and systems analysts, Five years' relevant business experience (i.e. making technical-related decisions on the business side), Five years' managing a large staff, (including managing managers), and Five years' experience with budget responsibilities
  • Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions
  • Executive level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services
  • Significant knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools
  • Extensive project management experience to include multi-million dollar projects completed on time, within budget and delivering quality results
  • Strong analytical and architectural skills
  • Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships
  • Knowledge of all phases of software engineering life cycle and experience with process improvement models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with the Adobe product suite.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and modern data engineering practices.
  • Experience managing public-facing websites with a focus on maintaining brand integrity and consistent user experience.

Other Job Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Visual / Audio / Speaking: Able to access and interpret client information received from the computer and able to hear and speak with individuals in person and on the phone.
  • Manual Dexterity / Keyboarding: Able to work standard office equipment, including PC keyboard and mouse, copy/fax machines, and printers.
  • Availability: Able to work all hours scheduled, including overtime as directed by manager/supervisor and required by business need.
  • Travel: Up to 75%
