Senior Backend Engineer

The Senior Backend Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend systems that power mission-critical applications. This position requires strong expertise in modern backend frameworks, API development, cloud services, and database management. A key focus of the role is the integration of large language models (LLMs) such as Claude and GPT into applications and developer workflows to enhance functionality, automation, and productivity. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who combines deep technical expertise with experience applying AI/ML in real-world scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (RESTful and/or GraphQL).
• Integrate LLMs (Claude, GPT, etc.) into applications and developer workflows to support AI-assisted features and automation.
• Develop and maintain robust database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize services in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and code review practices to ensure code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, product, AI/ML) to deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs.
• Contribute to architectural decisions around microservices, event-driven systems, and scalability.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering clean code practices and effective use of AI-assisted development.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with backend frameworks such as Python (Django, FastAPI), Java (Spring), Node.js, or .NET.
• Proven track record in building and maintaining APIs (RESTful and/or GraphQL).
• Strong database expertise across relational and NoSQL systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Demonstrated ability to integrate LLMs (Claude, GPT, etc.) into applications or workflows.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with messaging/streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of secure API design, authentication/authorization (OAuth, JWT), and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in agile, cross-functional teams.
