Experience is not necessary, but a solid foundation in biology/chemistry is required. Requires a highly motivated, curious, self-starter, forward thinking person. The laboratory provides opportunities for growth in the laboratory sciences.
In this role, the Lab Support Service Tech (Microbiology) will be assigned to the microbiology and molecular pathology section as an entry level laboratory support. The primary responsibilities include the processing of patient specimens, answering the phone in a professional manner, and understanding the laboratory computer system coupled with performing on demand testing on multiple molecular platforms. It is essential that multi-tasking be done in a timely manner with minimum supervision after training.
