This position has been designated as a hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week in Montreal.
Job summary:
Our AI engine supports a self-operating building that requires no human intervention. Using deep learning, cloud-based computing, and our proprietary process, our solution autonomously optimizes existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems for maximum impact on energy consumption.
Join our fast-growing artificial intelligence company as an AI, HVAC support specialist. Your mission: ensure smooth operations without ever leaving your desk. You’ll be the first to spot and address issues, coordinate solutions, and keep a vigilant eye on our buildings. This is a desk-based role, no fieldwork required. Your overarching objective being to monitor troubleshoot our deployed models on customer sites in real-time.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and test control programs and sequences for IoT devices and control systems
- Remotely implement, support, troubleshoot, test, and commission IoT devices, HVAC control, lighting, and refrigeration systems
- Collaborate with development and algorithm teams to integrate with control systems IoT devices and other deployment models
- Perform analytical testing (QA/QC) for new product validation, stability, and release.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems and IoT devices
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in IoT technologies and control systems
- Continue to enhance documentation of test procedures and results, step by step guides, product reviews
- Review and help establish service level agreements (SLAs), ensuring adherence and contributing to the quality control in algorithm development
- Contribute to maintenance and system update activities on client’s systems.
- Support knowledge base (KCS) process improvements and troubleshooting efficiency by applying the shift-left
- Communicate directly with clients to address issues and service requests.
- Be available for after-hours coverage, including nights, weekend, or holidays, when business needs require it, with appropriate compensation provided.
What you will bring:
- Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or building environments engineering technology or equivalent trade/field experience
- 3-5 years of experience with building automation and HVAC control system, preferably in the IoT domain.
- Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experienced with BMS software, programming, and hardware (Distech, Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, other, etc…)
- In-depth knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC and mechanical systems, electrical, refrigeration, and building operations
- Experience with commissioning building HVAC automation controls and systems
- Experience with building management system protocols like, BACnet, Modbus, Lonworks, DIII-net
- Strong level of experience with Unix/Linux OS
- Experience navigating, programming, executing commands and scripts in various Linux environments
- Strong IT and networking understanding, configuration, and architecture
- Strong organizational and communication skills, collaborating with multiple departments
- Ability to multi-task and work autonomously
- Hands-on experience with electronics, testing equipment, and circuitry
- Experienced building controls panels, wiring, terminations, and working with tools
- Familiar with python programming language
- Familiarity with MQTT and APIs, such as RESTful and Node Red
- Tridium Niagara 4 certified is an asset
Language requirements:
- French-English bilingualism is required.
- In addition to fluency in French, successful candidates must have full professional proficiency in English to support and collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues, and/or various stakeholders.
Compensation:
Base pay range: $85,000 - $113,000. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on Canadian national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed.
