Assistant Food Service Manager

The Assistant Food Service Manager helps the Food Service Manager provide a positive dining experience for guests and staff. This role supports the daily operations of meal preparation and service at Thousand Pines, focusing on quality, safety, and great customer service.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in maintaining food use, inventory, and purchasing
• Keep kitchen in a clean condition to meet or exceed all regulatory standards
• Oversee meal preparation and cooking crew
• Carry out all assigned tasks on or under budget
• Monitor record refrigeration logs (staff dining, dish pit, and main camp kitchen)
• Schedule staff
• Staff encouragement

Additional Functions:

• Oversight of storage, organization, and distribution of food at other TP Venues (coordination with shops)
• Managing information through evaluations such as social trends, ethnic foods, world cuisines, dislikes and likes through a variety of groups, ages, and dietary restrictions
• Research multiple vendors to maintain competitive pricing and ensure high quality
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Major Competency Areas:

• Experience in preparing and sequencing meals for large (400+) groups and multiple venues
• The ability to plan and prepare a 5 course meal
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a consistently positive attitude
• Excellent team management, administrative, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to get along extremely well with peers, supervisors, subordinates and guests
• Sufficient administrative skills including the use of all google software

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a high school diploma, college degree and above preferred
• ServSafe certificate required, culinary arts training/certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years experience at a Supervisory or Management level
• Extensive experience in commercial food service industry and customer service
• Christian camping or other ministry experience

Physical Demands:

• Valid California Driver's license
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Stand on your feet for at least 8 hrs regularly
