Senior Network Operations Engineer

The Senior Network Operations Engineer is responsible for providing 3rd level technical operational support for TP ICAP's global network infrastructure. As part of a global Network Operations team, the successful candidate will be a strong technical lead with excellent troubleshooting skills.

Role Responsibilities

Provide L3 technical support for TP ICAP's global network infrastructure

Ensure all changes to production follow the TPICAP Permit to Operate process and adhere to Change Control processes.

Ensure all high or Critical changes are peer reviewed before being committed to production and are fully tested post release

Troubleshoot complex technical issues, working with customers and third-party suppliers

Resolve incidents, requests and changes in a timely manner, including escalations

Provide mentoring and support for L1/L2 engineers in Network Operations

Contribute to knowledge sharing by maintaining accurate documentation and KB articles

Maintain the performance and accuracy of monitoring platforms, and perform upgrades

Assist with reporting requirements, including performance and capacity planning

Peer review change requests raised by the team

Experience and Competencies

Technical

  • Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, preferably including Qos, MPLS, Multicast, Nexus & ACI
  • Strong knowledge of firewall platforms & VPN technologies
  • Strong knowledge of application & content delivery platforms
  • Strong knowledge of network management tools, including Solarwinds
  • Strong knowledge of packet level troubleshooting with Wireshark
  • Good knowledge of Voice applications including CUCM & SfB
  • Good knowledge of automation tools including Ansible and Python.

Non-Technical

  • Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis upon ownership and communication,
  • Enthusiastic about networking with a keen willingness to share knowledge and help peers
  • Robust appreciation of the impact and risk of changes in a business critical environment
  • Eager to learn and to 'roll up sleeves' in a busy environment
  • A pro-active approach to Service Management, focus on preventative to reactive support.
  • Continuous Improvement approach

Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in an operational role supporting global enterprise networks
  • Experience working in Financial Services, either directly or through a service provider
  • Knowledge and experience of ITIL working practices, including change management

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Experienced Cisco CCNP qualified with CCIE being desirable (now or in the future)
  • Fortinet Certification and ITIL Foundation highly desirable
