This is a TEMPORARY position that will start June 22nd through November 6th, 2026. This posting will remain open continuously until filled.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review applications for meeting qualifications. Conduct pre-screening interviews for applicants that meet or exceed qualifications/education/experience.
  • Post and ensure all job postings are completed accurately and timely.
  • Send approved offer letters to candidates.
  • Conduct pre-employment and background screening for each applicant considered for hire.
  • Complete reference checks on candidates when requested by supervisor.
  • Performs various administrative support functions.
  • Assists with the coordination of mandatory drug and alcohol testing for all DOT drivers. Assists with communications with testing vendor and assists with coordination with departments on random test requirements. Assists with ensuring compliance mandates are met and followed.
  • UKG performance review support and reset passwords for current employees.
  • Performs technical related duties for human resources. Includes providing regular and ad-hoc reports and assisting with salary surveys.
  • Answers employee questions and provides assistance where appropriate.
  • Ensures appropriate security and confidentiality of employee information and records.
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare and mail documents for internal and external distribution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: At least one (1) year of general administrative support or human resources experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses and/or Certifications: a valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications: College level course work and Public Sector HR experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of modern human resource practices, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret personnel policies and procedures. Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
  • Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information.
  • Ability to use common sense to understand and carry out instructions.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work.
  • Excellent word processing skills required. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs including HRIS. Desktop publishing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of file and record maintenance principles and practices, both hard copy and computerized.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits including health insurance and terminology.
  • Skill in operating a variety of modern office equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary work for long periods of time
  • Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment

Equipment Used:

  • Uses standard office equipment including a personal computer system
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
