Topcon Positioning System is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of a Lead Software Engineer. Work location: TOPCON Office located in Bologna (Italy). The job can be performed 100% remote (Italy), with visit to our Bologna office once a week.

Job Purpose

As part of the company development strategy we need to grow talent in specific areas needed to continue development of our software products. The Lead Software Engineer will work Develop architecture, UI layout and UI flows in cross-platform QT-based applications. Implement new features and fix defects. Participates in full life cycle development of MAGNET products, deliver source code.

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Cross-platform C++ development for Android, iOS, Linux, and Windows (Qt/QML, NDK).
• Primary development is on Windows, but the application also runs on other platforms (Android, iOS, Linux).
• Analyzing requirements, clarifying tasks, proposing optimal solutions, and estimating workload.
• Developing software architecture, implementing UI with Qt/QML, and maintaining existing code.
• Works with the project manager and software team to plan and manage delivery schedules.
• Follows and implements software processes.
• Attend team meetings and functions.

Minimum Job Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
• 5+ years of professional experience in C++ development, with a focus on Qt and QML.
• Overall software development experience for at least 8 years.
• Experience in software development process implementation
• Experience with software development tools (configuration management, design, emulation, debugging, compliers, test etc.)
• Experience with GNSS and/or Optical Survey will be a plus
• Experience with software development for Android is needed for the role

Additional (Preferred) Requirements:

• Knowledge of SQLite and experience with databases (design and queries)
• Experience in cross-platform application development and GUI frameworks.
• 3D graphics/geometry programming experience is a plus.
• Experience with MFC/Visual Studio.
• Knowledge of Java and experience in native iOS/Android APIs and development.
• Experience in development tools, version control, and code quality control.
• Experience in software architecture design and design patterns.
• A good command (both written and speaking) of English language is required for the job.

Working Conditions:

• Office presence: One day per week at our Bologna office.
• Remote work (Smart Working): Available for the remaining days to support productivity and work-life balance.
