About the Opportunity

The Engineering Delivery Lead is a hybrid role combining delivery management with deep technical leadership. It is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background and proven experience in leading agile delivery across complex technology landscapes.

This role is responsible for the technical oversight of agreed solutions and the delivery of associated change through a technology capability and modern working practices. The Engineering Delivery Lead will work in close partnership with a Product Manager and individual Squad Leads to support the strategic roadmap and prioritised changes for the Finance Data Products Team.

They will be firmly aligned with Product Engineering to ensure a best-in-class capability is delivered across all software engineering deliverables. Additionally, the role will play a key part in evolving the Product Operating Model from a Technology perspective, in line with the Data Strategy.

The Engineering Delivery Lead reports directly to the Enterprise Product Manager.

Core Responsibilities

• Own the technical oversight and delivery of change initiatives within the Finance Data Products Team.
• Ensure technology solutions are engineered to meet agreed design and quality standards.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the squads, fostering a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
• Drive alignment and engagement across Engineering Practices, Platform Services, and Enterprise Applications.
• Design and implement a flexible, agile delivery model that enables multiple teams to operate independently while managing shared dependencies.
• Act as the technical authority for troubleshooting and guidance across squads.
• Anticipate and address blockers, risks, and issues that may impact delivery timelines or quality.
• Collaborate proactively with Product Managers, Product Owners, BAs, and Business SMEs to understand the prioritised backlog and support engineering capability within Fusion Teams.
• Oversee capacity and demand management, including intake from other business lines into the Finance Data Product Team.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and expectation management across business and technology teams.
• Own tracking and reporting of delivery progress, risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring visibility and accountability.
• Drive risk and issue management, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
• Champion knowledge management practices to ensure documentation, reusability, and continuity across squads.
• Support the upskilling and development of engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Partner with the wider IT function and Product Management to deliver innovative, compelling, and user-friendly products.
• Champion agile development principles to deliver continuous value and adapt to change.

Key Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in senior leadership of Product Engineering teams across a dispersed resource model.
• Previous software development experience, including working as either a Technical Lead or Delivery Manager.
• Strong track record of driving engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
• Ability to inspire, lead, and coach technical teams while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience building and managing enterprise software using Azure cloud and Microsoft endpoint technologies.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts across business and technology boundaries.
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD environments, and agile delivery frameworks.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of, and experience in, data warehousing: encompassing physical modelling, as well as ETL, ELT, CDC, semantic layers, rules engines, reconciliation principles, SQL, Python, Terraform, Snowflake, AWS. Monitoring, automated test capabilities and reporting design, dashboarding and data feeds.
• Knowledge and experience in Data Vault 2.0.
• Development languages and platforms being SQL, Python, DataStage and AWS Knowledge.
• Key exposure to consuming SaaS platforms or services and Architectural awareness.
• Cloud Application Management via Azure DevOps, Pipelines.
• Integration platforms – BizTalk, Node JS and Angular JS.
• Exposure to alternate cloud solutions on AWS, Azure or Google.
• Microservices exposure via Azure Kubernetes (AKS) and Dockerisation.
• Solid experience around CICD platforms, being Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, AWS Code Deploy etc.
