This opportunity has a global reach and provides the chance to collaborate with peers in technical knowledge. You will work collaboratively with Digital Services, Global Services, Product Management, Product Engineering, Technology Services, and New Product Introduction teams to ensure that our users have quality knowledge content that leads them to self-service success.
What will you do?
The Content Engineer is responsible for content production and publication. A successful Content Engineer will have proficiency in producing written content, like web-based articles in the MyF5 knowledge base, email newsletters, and social media communications.
Content may be developed in close collaboration with technical subject matter experts, or largely independently working to fill a specific business need. A successful candidate will identify stakeholders, create publication plans, and track milestones for multiple types of content. You must be able to work with limited supervision and manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.
Showcase strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be able to work collaboratively across the organization, and forge cross-team relationships with a broad range of global stakeholders, including knowledge engineers, product managers, program managers, and more. You may be the single point of contact for the Digital Services team in one of the many ways we interlock with other parts of the F5 business, such as Product Lifecycle/Release Management, Support Enablement, and Community Support.
Job content:
Independently design, write, and publish product documentation for all products in the F5 product suite.
Apply styles, best practices, and content and language standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, brand awareness, and usability. This includes advocating for the use of, and adherence to style guides when editing content written by others.
Assist with the application of best practices to F5 customer portals and web properties, focusing on consistency and enabling customer success.
Work to precise deadlines determined by external factors such as product release cycles and security disclosures.
Decipher complex technical data and transform it into usable documentation.
Research existing content to fill content gaps and ensure consistent presentation of content.
Build relationships with Product and Release Management teams to enable product support and provide a positive experience for customers as new products and services are released.
Participate in and execute team projects such as new tool development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new systems, workflow refinement, content migrations, and continuous process improvement.
Use a combination of empathy, logic, hard data, and direct feedback to inform decision making.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Significant demonstrated experience in written content production (editing, writing, journalism, and social media)
Significant experience with content management and publishing/delivery systems. (Salesforce Knowledge, Adobe AEM, Wrike, Outlook, and SharePoint)
Demonstrated experience with content creation systems such as Dreamweaver, InDesign, or similar.
Moderate knowledge of editing HTML source code.
Experience with collaboration and project management platforms a plus. (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Lucid, A-ha, or similar)
Experience publishing content through secondary systems such as Reddit, Twitter, LinkedIn, and community forums.
Self-starter, resourceful, and able to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written.
Ability to work in a global team across all geographies, respecting differences in culture, experience, and ways of working.
Constantly advocate for documentation practices and UX improvements that make things more inclusive and accessible, as well as respect and improve diversity. Aggressively highlight existing shortcomings, gaps, and opportunities to raise the bar.
Experience with user survey design and feedback systems a plus. (Qualtrics, Gainsight, Medallia, or similar)
Strong time management skills.
Scope long-term projects and manage time and resources to deliver on projected deadlines.
In addition to written content, the Digital Services Content Engineering team produces technical videos for public consumption. Experience creating and editing videos is a plus, but not a requirement for the position currently. However, aptitude and willingness to learn and grow into a supporting role for our video production team is expected in the future. Familiarity with enterprise content production software such as the Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar platforms, as well as publication platforms such as YouTube and Microsoft Stream are helpful.
Qualifications
5+ years of technical writing experience in a highly technical industry such as software or hardware.
Hold a degree in communications field: English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Video Production, Marketing Communications, Â or equivalent experience.
Other skills/attributes/background:
Experience with Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS®) and KCS coaching. KCS Fundamentals or v6 Practices certification desirable.
This role may require you to work outside of core business hours including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The annual base pay for this position is: $95,757.00 - $143,635.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5's differing products, industries, and lines of business.
