Retail Associate - FOH And Surgery Center Support

Food Service Worker | Location: Boise, ID 83704
Compensation: $16 per hour| Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
Under the supervision of the Food Service Director and Executive Chef, this role supports food service operations across the Surgery Center, Grab and Go program, and Café. Responsibilities include stocking, food preparation, customer service, sanitation, and catering support. The team ensures high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality while serving patients, doctors, employees, and visitors.
What You'll Do
Surgery Center & Grab and Go:
- Stock and track inventory in: Doctor's Lounge, Break Room, Lobby, PACU Area
- Build and maintain Grab and Go items for TVH Surgery Center and Treasure Valley Hospital.
- Ensure par levels are consistently met across all designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and fuel levels of company vehicle.
Café Operations:
- Greet and assist customers within 10 seconds of entry.
- Serve hot and cold food on the line for breakfast and lunch.
- Replenish Grab and Go items, sweet treats, condiments, utensils, and beverage supplies.
- Prep and set up salad/sandwich station with fresh ingredients.
- Prepare daily café specials (e.g., sandwiches, salads, pizzas).
- Change soda syrup/CO2 tanks as needed.
- Answer café phone and take orders.
- Input orders and reorder lunch special items.
- Assist with deliveries and stock supplies.
- Make and maintain coffee stations.
- Operate POS system and handle money safely.
- Sanitize tables and chairs throughout the day.
- Deliver meals to patients, doctors, and admin staff.
- Clear and clean dishes and trash from tables.
- Operate dishwasher and ensure quality cleaning.
- Store clean dishes properly using gloves and handwashing protocols.
- Check and log refrigerator/freezer item dates.
- Log inventory and temperatures throughout the day.
- Complete sanitation and closing checklist daily.
- Assist in café as needed.
Catering Support:
- Review catering menus and set up event rooms.
- Prepare serving ware and side items (e.g., dessert trays).
- Deliver catering prior to event start time.
Sanitation and Safety:
- Clean workstations before leaving.
- Date and store all items properly.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices.
- Operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Support a culture of safety, respect, and quality.
Professional Requirements:
- Adhere to dress code; maintain neat and clean appearance.
- Complete annual education and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear identification and use time system correctly.
- Attend annual reviews and departmental in-services.
- Maintain positive relationships with physicians, staff, and departments.
- Represent the organization professionally.
- Comply with ethical business practices and organizational policies.
- Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital and department.
What You Will Bring
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or a related field is a plus
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional special events
- The ideal candidate is available on short notice and can adapt quickly to varying schedules and responsibilities
- ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handler Card
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- This job involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and a kitchen environment with fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Employees must have the physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks.
