Director Of Transportation And Campus Services

The Director of Transportation and Campus Services provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for a diverse portfolio of essential campus operations, including transportation and parking services, campus card and identification systems, meal plan administration, and Transact eAccount management. This position plays a critical role in enhancing the student and campus experience by ensuring that these services are integrated, customer-focused, and financially sustainable. The Director leads a team responsible for delivering innovative, technology-driven solutions that support mobility, access, and convenience across the university community. As a member of the Hospitality and Campus Services leadership team, the Director contributes to long-range planning, resource optimization, and policy development, while fostering partnerships across academic and administrative divisions to advance institutional goals related to service excellence, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership (35%)

  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight of transportation, parking, meal plan, and campus card operations, ensuring these programs align with institutional priorities and enhance the overall campus experience.
  • Develop and execute multi-year business and operational plans focused on service integration, customer engagement, sustainability, and financial performance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that modernize campus services through technology, data analytics, and process improvement.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on issues related to transportation planning, mobility trends, and auxiliary service delivery.

Campus Mobility & Transportation Strategy (25%)

  • Oversee multimillion-dollar budgets across all service areas, ensuring fiscal accountability, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
  • Develop pricing strategies, rate structures, and business models that balance affordability, accessibility, and revenue generation.
  • Lead financial forecasting, capital planning, and performance measurement efforts in collaboration with Finance and Institutional Planning.
  • Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and technology platforms to ensure value and service quality.

Campus Card, Meal Plan, and Transaction Services (15%)

  • Provide executive oversight of campus card operations and related systems, ensuring secure, seamless access and transaction management for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversee meal plan strategy and integration with dining operations, leveraging data and customer feedback to inform program design.
  • Ensure optimal performance and user experience of Transact eAccounts or equivalent transaction systems.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement (15%)

  • Build strong partnerships with divisions across the university—including IT, Finance, Facilities, Dining, Housing, and Student Life—to ensure cohesive and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Represent the university in regional and national professional associations and external partnerships related to campus mobility, auxiliary services, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, campus governance groups, and students regarding policies, projects, and strategic initiatives.

Grant Administration Oversight (10%)

  • Provide executive oversight for all Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding and related programs and serve as the primary liaison with the NH DOT, Regional Planning Commissions, and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations governing transit grant activities.
  • Oversee the development, submission, and management of FTA grant applications, progress reports, and financial documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with FTA representatives and local or regional partners to ensure continued funding eligibility and successful program outcomes.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in transportation, auxiliary services, or related campus operations.
  • Significant leadership experience with complex service portfolios, multimillion-dollar budgets, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, and advancing technology-enabled services.
  • Experience in higher education or the public sector preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide diverse operational units and manage organizational change.
  • Excellent financial acumen, including forecasting, rate setting, and long-term capital planning.
  • Broad knowledge of transportation systems, parking management, transaction systems, and auxiliary operations.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to use data and technology to drive operational improvements and enhance customer experience.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability, and service excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education transportation or auxiliary service management.
  • Knowledge of transit funding structures, sustainable mobility strategies, or technology-enabled service models.
  • Experience working with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) programs or government-funded transportation initiatives.

Compensation Pay Range:

$76,550.00 - $137,120.00
