The Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the manager in the maintenance of all store operations.

The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly, or on a relief basis, or has responsibility for the wise use of his/her own resources. He/She may be authorized to collect cash and other payment methods.
A typical working environment is in the store. The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling and entering data for transactions. The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
An incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: Garbage, Washrooms, Odours, Truck Fumes, Verbal abuse, Dealing with angry people, Work-related stress, Work schedule may impact life (weekends). May have little to no travel requirements. The incumbent works shifts (vary week to week). May be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury or illness due to: Physical attacks by others, Exposure to toxic chemicals, Moving objects, Risk of back injuries (throwing back out), Other potentially dangerous situations.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications: The successful job applicant will have completed Public School. Up to three (3) months of prior related experience; including life skills. Universal Precautions. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Attention to occasional computer work. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
The target hiring range for this position is $19.39 to $19.77 with a maximum of $20.14. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role. The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
