Classification: SCHADS Award – Social and Community Services, Level 3.1

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About the role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Casual Support Workers to join our team at the Mt Isa Recovery centre. In this role, you will provide consistent, person-centred support in a safe and structured environment, aligned with The Salvation Army's recovery-based service model and organizational guidelines.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with participants, encouraging self-determination and active involvement in their recovery journey.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with participant activities and communicate mitigation strategies to management.
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks, including light cleaning, room preparation for new arrivals, and transportation to appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report any identified risks affecting participants, staff, or the organization to the appropriate supervisor.

What You Will Bring

  • Hold a relevant Certificate-level qualification and/or have prior experience or on-the-job training in a similar role. A Diploma-level qualification will also be considered.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate preferred
  • Possess a valid Driver's Licence.
  • Must hold a WWCC – Blue card.
